About Us

Cosita is a food and product photography studio based in Berkeley, California. Our 5,000 square foot studio has been basecamp to many cookbook and product shoots, many you'd probably recognize. 

Cosita Backdrops started as a solution for creatives that wanted to use our photography surfaces but weren't local to the Bay Area. We photographed our entire collection with the goal being that the vinyl looked as good as the original that we created in-house. 

Despite all our efforts, Cosita doesn't run itself. We're a small team making backdrops, moving an unreasonable amount of props, hosting countless photo shoots, answering emails and debating the subtle differences between shades of beige.

Founder and owner

Natalia Poltoratzky

Every original Cosita surface is made by Nat in-house, involving some combination of paint, plaster, tears, questionable ideas, and an unreasonable amount of time trying to make something look perfectly imperfect. 

These days she puts all her efforts into making this little business as great as we can and delivering the kind of old fashioned service that used to exist when AI and call centers didn't exist. 

Fun fact: High school dropout and teenage runaway finally got her shit together at 30 years old.

Lauren Justice

Fun fact: Lauren knows everything, don't try to prove otherwise.

Lauren is the reason the business stays afloat. The manager that a small business can only dream about.

She is also the answerer of all difficult emails. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of one, I’m sorry. She made me do it.
